Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandigarh initiated collaboration with Electricity Department, H.S.V.P., Akshay Urja, Municipal Corporation, Department of Culture, Department of School Education, Department of Higher Education, Department of Transport, Department of Woman & Child and District Administration of Panchkula for the First Panchkula Book Fair at Yavnika Town Park, Sector-5 Panchkula to conduct PLAY ORIENTED WORKSHOPS, FOR ENCOURAGING THEATRE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL EDUCATION. This collaboration is also aimed to actively enhance interaction between people of diverse cultures living in different states and UTs in India, with the objective of promoting greater mutual understanding amongst them under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme and also to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahostav to commemorate 75 years of progressive India. This collaboration also represents the theme of India’s G20Presidency – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth - One Family – One Future.” The Students and Alumni of our department conducted the play-oriented workshops in the 12 Government Schools of Panchkula with at least two Theatre Directors per school along with Assistant Directors wherever possible. The 24 performances of one-act plays were showcased in December 2022. You are cordially invited to grace the performances on the above-mentioned dates and support the encouragement of the Theatre subject in Education.
